Who Are The 12 Patent Owners Interested In Fighting Google Over Web Video? | paidContent

Patent licensing group MPEG-LA made it clear back in February it wants to go after VP8, Google’s open-source online video format. Several months later, there aren’t any lawsuits flying—but MPEG-LA executives have said that they’re in discussions with no fewer than 12 different patent-holders who say they’ve got patents that Google (NSDQ: GOOG) may need to pay up for.

Back in February MPEG-LA was determined to attack Google's VP8 without any clue who's patent(s) were being infringed by it; and now, it has found claimants to it after a lot of hunting. Why wouldn't these so called patent owners claim infringement earlier? Did they require the MPEG-LA licensing group to remind them that they own those technologies?
