Watson challenges patents on Pfizer's Embeda - BusinessWeek

Watson Pharmaceuticals Inc. is challenging the patents on Pfizer Inc.'s drug Embeda, which is designed to treat pain while being difficult to abuse but which has posted lackluster sales in its first two years on the market. Watson said Friday that it asked the Food and Drug Administration to approve a low-cost generic version of Embeda, an extended-release drug that designed to treat moderate to severe pain.
