VIDEO: Robot can share its body with you for virtual symbiotic experience
Developed by Dzmitry Tsetserukou of Toyohashi University of Technology in Japan, the telepresence robot creates a body-to-body telepresence. A user wears a control belt that can detect their own body's angle and direction, transforming them into a human joystick that directs the robots movements. Vibrators on the belt buzz to indicate when an object lies in a particular direction for the robot by responding to an on-board laser scanner. Glasses with a virtual display let you see through the robot's eyes as well.
