Five of the top ten reportable diseases in the United States are sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and there are over 15 million new STD cases every year. Developing acceptable, widely-available point-of-care tests (POCT) for STDs is a critical step in improving the diagnosis and treatment of these diseases.
