For more than a century, people have made complex goods by starting with a larger amount of material and machining it down to obtain the finished product. But, that is changing. GE’s Global Research Center is a hub for additive manufacturing, or 3D printing, research. Their current projects range from transducers for ultrasound scanners, to fuel nozzles and even Christmas tree ornaments.
