Every year, Micron ranks among the top semiconductor companies for patent strength and value, having secured more than 25,000 patents from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in addition to international patent offices.
The first place rank in Science Strength represents the second consecutive year that Micron Technology has been placed first in the category. The Science Strength category measures how much a company utilizes science in building its patent portfolio, balancing both the measure of science and the quantity.

Technology Strength focuses more on the overall strength of the company’s patent portfolio.
The Patent Board Semiconductor industry scorecard determines these rankings by tracking the global patenting activity of a company and relating it to innovation, technology, and science strengths.
Mark Durcan, Micron President and Chief Operating Officer, says, “Micron has long been proud of our strong portfolio, and these latest impressive rankings are further testament to the value the company places on maintaining a workplace that welcomes new ideas in the spirit of innovation.”
