Merck establishes R&D headquarters in Asia

Merck announced today the establishment of a new Research and Development headquarters in Beijing, China, which is part of a $1.5 billion dollar investment push for China R&D. The headquarters will contain 47,000 square meters of office/laboratory space and 600 employees. The R&D investment will take place over the next five years.  Located in one of Beijing's growing technology parks, Wangjing Park, the establishment will  focus on drug discovery, translational research, clinical development, and other research programs. In 2014, first phase construction is scheduled to be completed.
