Honeywell's UOP technology integrated into Kumho's South Korean petrochemicals facility

South Korea's Kumho P&B Chemicals will utilize advanced petrochemical technology created by UOP, a subsidiary of Honeywell, for high-quality phenol production in their Yeosu facility. This development comes less than a week after UOP's technology was chosen by Dow Chemicals for integration into its US petrochemicals facility in Texas. Expected to start up in 2013-2014, the new Kumho units will produce 900,000 metric tons of cumene and 300,000 metric tons of phenol each year. UOP is providing the Kumho facility with engineering design, technology licensing, catalysts, adsorbents, and technical service for the project. The technology maximizes on-stream time and minimizes consumption of raw materials and energy.
