Google Pushing to Expand the Quick Review Process for Business Method Patents

Since the inter partes review process was created by the 2011 America Invents Act the number of petitions have exceeded expectations. Google, as a frequent target of litigation, is in favor of expanding the quick review process for business method patents beyond finance. Other companies such as GE and 3M are opposed to this expansion as it may put patents covering data processing for cancer systems and car safety systems at risk.
