EMC acquires flash storage company

EMC Corporation announced today that it has acquired the privately held XtremeIO, an industry pioneer in all-flash storage. The addition of XtremeIO technology is the culmination of a shift in focus towards all-flash-based storage solutions EMC began in 2008. "We fully expect XtremIO technology, once introduced to market, to have a tremendous impact on our customer's ability to leverage the unique advantages of all-Flash storage across many of their most demanding applications," said Pat Gelsinger, President and Chief Operating Officer of EMC.
