e-Nose for rating jasmine fragrance

A sensor equipped handheld device called e-nose has been developed by the Tamil Nadu Agriculture University (TNAU), Coimbatore, India  in collaboration with Center for Development of Advanced computing (C-DAC), Kolkota, India for assessing the quality of jasmine flowers for industrial applications . The device contains 5 different sensors, each to assess  individual compounds in the fresh extract of the flowers. The sampling time is 40 seconds.  Jasmine extract is being extensively used in perfume, confectionary, cosmetics and toiletry industries.
