BASF introduces Rheopel Plus D, powdered water-repellent admixture for masonry mortar applications

The Admixture Systems business of BASF’s Construction Chemicals division has developed a powdered masonry water-repellent admixture, Rheopel Plus D, based on the patented Rheopel Plus admixture technology. Rheopel Plus D water-repellent admixture can be added to masonry mortar mixtures to produce integral water-repellent (IWR) mortar, reducing the need for post-applied sealers. Rheopel Plus D is a fine silicone-based water repellent. Compared with the traditional calcium stearate-based water repellents that are currently on the market, it includes water repellency, a lower water absorption rate and improved efflorescence control. The easily dispersible powdered water repellent is designed for dry mortar mixes.
