FIELD OF THE INVENTION:

This invention relates generally to attachments for placement on rotating vertical adjusters of a sight for a bow or similar type weapon.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Bow sights are generally used to align projectile type weapons with targets. Typically the orientation of the weapon in a vertical plane (e.g elevation) is adjusted based at least in part on the distance between the shooter and the target. The farther the distance to a given target, the more the projectile will vertically drop and lose velocity; the weight of the configured projectile will impact drop and velocity as well.

One aspect of bow sights is the adjustment of the vertical plane of the weapon to (e.g. bow) account for above mentioned factors. On these vertical adjustment wheels the shooter typically affixes a marker (e.g. vinyl tape) to the wheel for the purpose of aligning a single pin or multiple pins to a mark or marks made by the shooter that indicate distance from the shooter to the intended target typically in yards or meters. Therefore, what is needed are techniques that overcome the above mentioned disadvantages.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An attachable apparatus for utilizing ancillary distance markings on a rotatable elevation adjuster used on vertically adjustable bow sights. The bow sight ancillary distance marker attachment is placed over the bow sights existing rotating vertical adjustment wheel, held in place by a set screw or by friction when the bow sight ancillary distance marker attachment is manufactured of a pliable material (e.g. TPU); it will cover the wheel and provide for the placement of a marker (e.g. vinyl tape) enabling the shooter to align the sight for use with a projectile of a differing configuration (e.g. length, shaft weight, tip size and weight) thus keeping the existing markings on the sights adjustment wheel intact for the uses of a projectile that matches the originally sighted in projectile.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

An attachable apparatus for utilizing ancillary distance markings on a rotatable elevation adjuster used on vertically adjustable bow sights. The bow sight ancillary distance marker attachment, is placed over an existing sights rotating vertical adjustment wheel, it will cover the wheel and provide a surface for the placement of a marker (e.g. vinyl tape) enabling the shooter to align the sight for use with a projectile of a differing configuration (e.g. length, shaft weight, tip size and weight) thus keeping the existing markings on the sights adjustment wheel intact for the uses of a projectile that matches the originally sighted in projectile.

In some embodiments of the present invention a set screw is used to secure the bow sight ancillary distance marker attachment to the vertical adjustment wheel.

In some embodiments of the present invention, when produced with a flexible or stretchable material such as TPU (Thermoplastic polyurethane), the bow sight ancillary distance marker attachment will be secured to the vertical adjustment wheel by stretching the bow sight ancillary distance marker attachment and placing it on the sights vertical adjustment wheel. In this embodiment the bow sight ancillary distance marker attachment is held in place by friction.

DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS

Some embodiments of the present invention are illustrated as an example and are not limited by the figures of the accompanying drawings, in which like references may indicate similar elements and in which: The bow sight ancillary distance marker attachment 1, as shown in FIGS. 1-2, is placed over an existing bow sight 2 which utilizes a rotating vertical adjustment wheel 3. The bow sight ancillary distance marker attachment 1 will cover the vertical adjustment wheel 3 and provide a surface 4 on the bow sight ancillary distance marker attachment 1 for the placement of a marker (e.g. vinyl tape). FIG. 2 shows an embodiment of the bow sight ancillary distance marker attachment 1 in position to be installed on the rotating vertical adjustment wheel 3. FIG. 3 shows an embodiment of the present invention installed on a vertical adjustment wheel 3 utilizing a set screw 9 to secure the bow sight ancillary distance marker attachment to the rotating vertical adjuster 3 of a sight and provides for the prevention of rotational movement of the bow sight ancillary distance marker attachment. The inside surface 7 lays flat against the outside edge 5 of the vertical adjustment wheel 3 on an existing sight. 2. The exterior wall 8 is the surface that is in contact with the outer top edge 6 of a rotating vertical adjustment wheel 3. The knurled ring 10 as shown in FIG. 5 provides for a non-slip surface for easier rotation of the bow sight ancillary distance marker attachment in conjunction with moving the rotating vertical adjuster. The embodiment of the bow sight ancillary distance marker attachment, 11, when constructed of a flexible material, will be secured to the rotating vertical adjustment wheel 3 by friction.
