VIDEO: New anti-platelet drug could lead to safer surgeries

Patients with a coronary stent require medication that prevents clotting around the stent. If patients need additional surgery, medication must be stopped several days in advance because it increases the risk of major bleeding during the operation. A new study has tested an investigational drug that decreases clotting risk and also leaves the system quicker so surgery can be performed without a major delay.
