VIDEO - Ikea catalogue: now with AR
I will admit that I didn't really imagine Ikea in the role of "technological innovator," but I have to say that the furniture maker has come up with a genuinely good use of augmented reality. The Ikea mobile app is not designed to replace the Ikea catalog that so many customers are used to leaving sit on their LACK Ikead coffee tables, instead integrating with the print version to augment the content. I think this is a novel marriage of traditional ink-on-paper and up-and-coming AR advertising technologies. At the very least, it makes shopping for furniture a little more interactive, and therefore a little more interesting.
