An innovative way to directly reward bicycle commuting is underway in the Twin Cities. As University of Minnesota alternative transportation manager Steve Sanders explains, bike commuters can attach an RFID to their bike, which logs their trip when they ride past sensors on the street. The plan is that a set number of rides will trigger direct savings on monthly health insurance premiums.
