Raytheon develops Machine Foreign Language Translation Systems for US Army
Raytheon BBN Technologies will develop a prototype system for two-way speech-to-speech, document and text-to-text translation. Since there is a shortage of human translators, the US army has awarded Raytheon $5.5 million to develop the program. The Machine Foreign Language Translation Systems program will allow the users to communicate with non-English speakers and to screen and translate printed or electronic texts. This product can be utilized on a variety of operating systems and platforms, as well as portable, mobile and net-enabled devices. Soon the world may not need translators at all!
