Particle collider cosmic research machine by 2020

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC), most infamously known for its doomsday potential to destroy the world with its black hole experiments, is expanding its research and development capabilities. Physicists from the EU, US, and Japan are eager to utilize the LHC for insight into a variety of topics like super-conducting magnets, dark matter, super-symmetry, universe expansion, and energy transfer lines. To accomplish this, upgrades to the LHC are expected to increase its frequency of collisions by 10 times. The addition of this extra luminosity will make precision measurements and discoveries occur at a much faster pace. The 10-fold upgrade, expected to be completed by 2020, may allow mankind to enter realms once solely reserved for speculative fiction.
