MEMS devices fastest-growing sensor sector

Solid State Technology reports that semiconductor sensor sales will grow another 18% in 2012 to a record $5.7 billion. MEMS devices now account for a resounding majority of these sales, where accelerometers and gyroscopic devices, for use in the increasingly profitable smartphone market.
