Lack of Patents Seen as Risk Ahead of Twitter's IPO

In a prospectus released last week Twitter said that is has issued only nine US patents. For reference Facebook had cited 774 patents before its May 2012 filing and IBM has accrued 6,478 patents over the past year. Twitter's efforts to let their engineers own their ideas and for the company to avoid patent litigation may be hampering investor enthusiasm as the company prepares for its IPO.
