French court absolves Youtube of piracy guilt
Google has been embroiled in a legal battle with French broadcaster TF1 over copyrighted content that has been posted on Youtube by its users. The court ruled that Google did not have any responsibility to police the content on Youtube: it was merely providing an open platform. This case case is a decisive win for open online media sites such as Youtube, absolving the provider from the responsibility of filtering the wealth of content found on its site.
