Rolls-Royce has settled a legal row over patent rights with US rival Pratt & Whitney (P&W), in a case that had threatened to delay deliveries of Boeing's new 787 Dreamliner aircraft. Both parties dropped lawsuits filed against each other over disputes surrounding Rolls-Royce's Trent 900 and 1000 engines and the GP7200 engine, developed jointly by Pratt & Whitney and General Electric.
