Boeing's 50,000th Combat Survivor Evader Locator

Boeing has delivered the 50,000th Combat Survivor Evader Locater (CSEL) combat search and rescue communications system to the U.S. joint services. This innovative system continues to be instrumental in helping to swiftly authenticate and rescue downed combat forces.

First utilized by U.S. Central Command in 2005, the CSEL is a multifunction radio system that locates personnel through the use of real-time GPS and multi-satellite, over-the-horizon secure communications. The Department of Defense makes tremendous use of the technology developed by Boeing Defense, Space, & Security, one of the world's largest specialists in innovative and capabilities-driven security technology.

Boeing CSEL Program Manager Steve Capps says, “Boeing is extremely proud of achieving this major CSEL production milestone. Our goal is to continue quality production of the CSEL systems and rapidly provide this critical, life-saving capability to the warfighter.”
