AT&T in talks to buy DirecTV

AT&T is reportedly taking part in "advanced talks" about buying satellite TV provider DirecTV for approximately $50B (low to mid-$90s per share). The combination of the two companies would create a pay television giant close in size to where Comcast will be if its acquisition of Time Warner Cable moves ahead. The deal may be completed in the next few weeks, although some details have yet to be worked out, including a break-up fee and the future role of DirecTV CEO Mike White.
