VIDEO - The Raspberry Pi: A $35 computer that can bridge the digital divide
One of the biggest stories this week is the Raspberry Pi, a $35 uncased open source computer that sold out within 2 hours of going on sale. The Model B version which went on sale includes two USB ports and a 10/100 Ethernet controller, as well as free Linux. The design uses a Broadcom BCM2835 system on a chip (SoC), which includes an ARM1176JZF-S 700 MHz processor, VideoCore IV GPU and 256 Megabytes of RAM. Many are praising its ability to bridge the digital poverty divide given its affordability and functionality.
