VIDEO -- Just another dancing robot...
...or is it? Georgia Tech's Center for Music Technology revealed Shimi -- a multi-talented music-playying robot -- that's making waves ahead of an anticipated reveal at the Google I/O conference today. Some of the capabilities are pretty impressive (song recognition from audible taps or claps, face recognition and tracking for optimal sound), but I'm not certain the world needs another robot that bobs its head and taps its foot.

Does it include voice recognition, too? Can't imagine I would ever really want to tap a beat to request a song, rather than just saying the name.

It wouldn't surprise me, given that it even has a camera for face recognition and tracking, but I haven't found any mention of it. I suppose we'll have to wait and see.
