Sony Xperia banks on smartphone market
Japanese consumer electronics maker Sony released its take on the smartphone this morning, hoping that entry into the global mobile market will help alleviate recent financial troubles. The Xperia looks like it has a variety of interesting features, though we'll have to wait for more more reviews to come in. Sony emphasizes the durability of the phone, likely trying to fill a smartphone market niche (people who destroy a lot of phones) that no current phone does. The proprietary display technology shows promise as well -- and will have to to justify the 12MP camera -- the Xperia is able to shoot 1080p on its rear-facing camera, and 720p on the front-facing one.
